The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries & Mining is inviting suitably qualified persons to fill the post of Plant Protection Officer (SOG/ST 5) (Bodles, Old Harbour, St. Catherine) Under the supervision of the Senior Plant Protection Officer, the Plant Protection Officer is responsible for undertaking short, medium and long-term research work in one of the major plant protection disciplines. The incumbent is also responsible for providing consultancy and liaison services on plant protection matters, as well as conduct pest identification and problem diagnosis. Salary Range: 💰 $3,501,526 - $4,709,163 JMD per annum

Agricultural Incentives & Waivers Officer (GMG/SEG 2)

Under the direct supervision of the Director, Agricultural Incentives & Waivers, the Agricultural Incentives & Waivers Officer will assist with the implementation of Government policies pertaining to agricultural incentives and waivers on agricultural inputs (goods or services) - General Consumption Tax (GCT)/import duties, and income tax relief, on behalf of the approved farmer/farming enterprise. The incumbent also assists in conducting inspections, surveys and studies, prepares reports, briefs, notes and plans, and participates in meetings, conferences and workshops, as necessary. salary range $4,266,270 – $5,737,658 per annum.

Under the direct supervision of the Senior Research Director, the Chief Agronomist is responsible for all aspects of the Ministry’s Crop Research Agronomy programmes. The incumbent is also responsible for planning, organizing and executing all programmes for testing, verifying and/or adaptation of results obtained from investigations conducted on experimental stations and/or actual farm conditions. Salary Range: 💰 $5,198,035 – $6,990,779 JMD per annum

The Senior Plant Breeder assists the Chief Plant Breeder with the development and implementation of research, training, scientific and technical knowledge dissemination, and in the evaluation and implementation of technical cooperation to meet the national food security goals.
