Speech Therapist (HPC/ALH 2)
Summary
Under the general supervision of the Psychologist, the Speech Therapist is responsible for planning, organizing and conducting speech therapy programmes to develop speech and language skills to facilitate personal, social, and intellectual development of patients. Salary Range: 💰 $4,676,508 - $5,558,899 JMD per annum.
Responsibilities
- • Conducting speech, language, and hearing screenings and diagnostic evaluations in consultation with medical doctors to determine the need for clinical services
- • Implementing treatment plans to prevent language, speech, and swallowing disorders
- • Communicating with the patient, and liaising with their family members, physicians, and/or teachers to design effective treatment plans
- • Using tried and tested therapies in combination with new, innovative techniques to provide the best care for patients
- • Educating patients and their families on speech disorders and available therapies
- • Maintaining appropriate, confidential records and detailed notes on patient history and progress
- • Evaluating patient progress and implementing changes to therapy programs as required;
- • Providing mentoring and workshops to speech therapy patients
- • Keeping up-to-date with advancements in the field by attending conferences, conducting research, and expanding professional and academic networks
- • Performing other related duties as directed by the Psychologist

Qualifications
- • Master's Degree in Speech Therapy or Speech-Language Pathology
- • Relevant License and Certification
- • Experience with certain disorders and age groups would be an asset
- • Minimum of three (3) years experience in a similar capacity
Additional Information and Instructions
Special Conditions Associated with the Job:
- • May be required to work beyond normal working hours, weekends and public holidays from time to time to meet deadlines
- • Will be exposed to challenges and crises that require responses at very short notice
- • May be required to travel within and outside of the Region and to conferences overseas
