
Assistant Manager - Enterprise Risk Management (Financial Risks)
Summary
Assist with developing and implementing appropriate enterprise risk management programmes to identify, assess, and monitor enterprise-level risks, with an emphasis on market, liquidity and credits. Assist in the administration of the Sagicor Group’s Enterprise Risk Management Framework and the development and review of related policies, procedures, and reference documents. Assist in the conceptualizing, developing, and deploying of value-added analytical tools and data visualization solutions to support the Group’s risk management activities.
Responsibilities
- • Assist in the development, execution, and maintenance of a comprehensive group-wide Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program, with specific focus on Market, Liquidity, Credit, and Insurance risks.
- • Develop and implement processes to monitor and report on the insurance risk exposures across the Group.
- • Supervise the development, testing maintenance and implementation of financial models, templates, and dashboards to measure, monitor and report on financial risk exposures across the Group.
- • Monitor/ ensure the monitoring of the Group’s trading, investments, lending and funding activities and exposures daily and weekly to ensure adherence to policies and regulatory limits.
- • Contribute to the development and implementation of processes to assess and/ or monitor the effectiveness of the ERM framework and adherence to policies and standards and keep them relevant.
- • Ensure the collection, collation, and maintenance of relevant historical data required for risk analysis including interest rates and yields, exchanges rates and credit ratings.
- • Prepare/ ensure the preparation of timely and accurate reporting on financial & insurance risk matters to the Manager, ERM – Financial Risks and relevant stakeholders.
Support the development, implementation and maintenance of risk management documents including:
- • risk appetite statements, policies, procedures, standards, taxonomies, risk dictionaries and mandates, and ensure their ongoing relevance.
- • Keep informed of changes in regulatory requirements governing all business lines across the Group and assist in monitoring the Group’s activities and exposures in accordance with these requirements.
- • Contribute to the review of changes in financial legislation and regulations impacting the Group.
- • Perform/ ensure performance of risk assessment of products, services, transactions, and counterparties using appropriate decision support tools and techniques, ensuring that all financial risks are accurately identified and mitigated.
- • Conduct periodic evaluation of the Group’s assets and liabilities utilizing appropriate tools and techniques to determine its level of financial risk exposure and in support of the maintenance of the group-wide risk registers.
- • Drive the identification and assessment of financial risks, and development of risk control strategies and activities.
- • Perform/ensure performance of periodic stress testing on key risk exposures.
- • Evaluate possible adverse movements in key risk factors and quantify their potential impact on the Group’s earnings, liquidity, and capital.
- • Continuously monitor the external environments and ensure the identification, assessment, and reporting of emerging financial risks impacting the businesses across the Group.
- • Act as a risk management subject matter expert to the Business to ensure effective financial risk management across the Group.
- • Perform any other job-related duties assigned from time to time.
Required Skills
- • Sound quantitative, analytical thinking, conceptual thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- • Sound knowledge of the regulatory regime surrounding local insurance, securities dealers and banking institutions.
- • Sound knowledge of local and international financial instruments and markets.
- • Sound understanding of financial risk management concepts and practices.
- • Intermediate technical knowledge in programming languages and data management software, such as Python, R, and VBA.
- • Technical knowledge & working experience in data visualization tools (such as Power BI).
- • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- • High degree of personal initiative and innovative thinking.
- • Resourceful and has ability to work with minimal supervision in meeting tight deadlines.
- • Sound knowledge of computer software packages such as word processing and spreadsheet applications.
Qualifications
- • Bachelor’s Degree in Risk Management, Economics, Actuarial Science, Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or related equivalent, professional qualification from a recognized tertiary institution.
- • Minimum of three (3) years’ working experience in risk management, specifically market or liquidity risk management, or two (2) years’ working experience in investment management or the actuarial field.
- • Risk Management and/ or Actuarial Science designation/ training (FRM, CFA or related designation) would be an asset.
