
Business Analyst
Summary
Liaise between the business and the Data & Analytics Department, using a deep understanding of business processes and technology to help business partners achieve their desired outcomes. Work with business partners to elicit high-level requirements and capture business needs. Understand the customer journey and define user requirements.
Responsibilities
- • Evaluate business processes, document requirements, uncover areas for improvement, and develop and implement solutions that will improve data quality across the group.
- • Identify business requirements that are necessary to address the needs of the business.
- • Develop models based on requirements gathered.
- • Represent documentation in an easy to understand format.
- • Communicate with the necessary stakeholders to gather requirements.
- • Use data modelling practices to analyse your findings and create recommendations for strategic and operational improvements to improve data quality.
- • Ensure that recommendations provided are in line with the strategic direction of the business.
- • Prepare documentation outlining and justifying these recommendations.
- • Maximize value derived from data and analytics by identifying and documenting the nuances of the business processes and operations that impact the data quality.
- • Track efforts related to the implementation of value-added solutions across the different divisions in the Sagicor Group.
- • Improve on existing value-added solutions by developing data exploitation techniques.
- • Recommend improvement to existing processes impacting data as necessary.
- • Improve Enterprise Information Management performance.
- • Participate in the planning and development of the Data & Analytics Department initiatives.
- • Perform any other job-related duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Required Skills
- • An analytical mind; ability to look across the business to determine linkages, process improvements, and possible roadblocks.
- • Business domain, data/content and process understanding with strong commercial and business awareness.
- • Resourcefulness and troubleshooting aptitude while paying close attention to detail.
- • Familiarity with data science concepts, as well as MDM, business intelligence, and data warehouse design and implementation techniques.
- • Ability to analyze project, program and portfolio needs, as well as determine the resources needed to achieve objectives and overcome cross-functional barriers.
- • High proficiency in the use of computer software packages such as word processing and spreadsheet applications.
Qualifications
- • Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems or a related study/equivalent qualification from a recognized tertiary institution.
- • A minimum of two (2) years’ demonstrated experience as a Business Analyst.
Broad IT domain experience in three or more of the following areas:
- • Applications Development
- • Enterprise Architecture
- • Project Management
- • Quality Assurance
- • Infrastructure
- • Maintenance and Support
- • Familiarity with the finance industry.
- • Hands-on experience implementing data and analytics management programs is preferred.
