Summary

The Jamaica Agricultural Commodities Regulatory Authority (JACRA) is seeking an exceptional, visionary, and values-driven Director General to lead the organization into a new era of transformation, growth, and sustainability. As the Director General and highest-ranking officer of the Authority, the Director General will be responsible for shaping and executing the strategic direction of JACRA, ensuring effective regulation and promotion of Jamaica's key agricultural commodities including coffee, cocoa, coconut, and spices. This role calls for a strategic and forward-thinking leader with a proven track record of institutional leadership, integrity, innovation, and deep sectoral knowledge in agriculture and agri-business. 💰Basic Salary: $11,400,000 - $12,600,000 JMD per annum.

Responsibilities

  • Provide visionary leadership to JACRA's operational, regulatory, and developmental mandates.
  • Drive the strategic planning and transformation of the organization to ensure its relevance, responsiveness, and resilience.
  • Oversee the effective implementation of policies, regulations, and standards to ensure Jamaica's agricultural commodities remain competitive on the global stage.
  • Champion ethical governance, performance-based management, and a results-driven organizational culture.
  • Cultivate strong stakeholder relationships with government ministries, international partners, commodity boards, private sector entities, and farming communities.
  • Lead the financial, operational, and human resource oversight of the organization, ensuring accountability, transparency, and optimal resource utilization.
  • Drive climate-smart agricultural practices, export development, innovation, and market diversification.
  • Represent Jamaica's interests in regional and international agricultural forums, trade negotiations, and commodity alliances.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree or higher in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Public Administration, Strategic Management, Economics, or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of progressive leadership experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a senior executive role within a regulatory body, government agency, or agribusiness entity.
  • Deep understanding of Jamaican and global agricultural trends, commodity markets, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead institutional transformation, policy development, and stakeholder engagement at a national level.
  • Proven commitment to ethical leadership, transparency, and good governance.
  • Strong financial acumen, change management capability, and experience with public sector accountability frameworks.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and diplomacy skills, with the ability to advocate, influence, and lead across sectors.
