Phlebotomist
Summary
The phlebotomist is responsible for performing a variety of duties involved in the collection of blood and non-blood samples from patients for laboratory testing to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.
Responsibilities
- • Perform several routine blood drawing procedures.
- • Make appointments to visit home patients and offices.
- • Confer with patients to obtain information for laboratory records, explain procedures, allay fears and elicit cooperation.
- • Utilize standard procedures for the maintenance of positive patient identification, record appropriate collection information on request forms.
- • Centrifuge, label and store blood samples for subsequent analysis by staff.

- • Strong analytical, administrative and problem-solving skills.
- • Flexibility and versatility to operate in a demanding environment.
- • Proficiency in the use of computer application software.
- • Pristine interpersonal and customer services skills.
Qualifications
- • Certificate in phlebotomy or equivalent from a recognized institution.
- • 4 CSEC Subjects (Mathematics, English, a Science Subject and any other subject)
- • At least a year experience working as a phlebotomist at an accredited institution.
