Responsibilities

The Business Analyst serves as a liaison between the companies in the ICD Group and their business units and the BCIC Information Technology Department. This includes eliciting, analysing, specifying, and validating the business needs of stakeholders and supporting user testing and quality assurance. The Business Analyst must proactively identify technology solutions and opportunities and ensure that these solutions support business goals. The Business Analyst must also be able to educate IT on business goals and educate the business on the value of IT solutions.

  • Planning:

    • • Conduct interviews to gather user requirements via workshops, questionnaires, surveys, site visits, workflow, storyboards, use cases, scenarios, and other methods.
    • • Identify and establish scope and parameters of requirements analysis on a project-by-project basis to define project impact, outcome criteria, and metrics.
    • • Work with stakeholders and the project team to prioritise collected requirements.
    • • Research, review, and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing requirements-gathering processes and develop strategies for enhancing or further leveraging these processes.
  • Operations:

    • • Analyze and verify requirements for completeness, consistency, comprehensibility, feasibility, and conformity to standards.
    • • Develop and utilise standard templates to write requirements specifications accurately and concisely.
    • • Translate conceptual user requirements into functional requirements in a clear manner that is understandable to developers or project teams.
    • • Where applicable, develop prototypes of interfaces and attributes based on user requirements.
    • • Create process models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide direction to developers and/or the project team.
    • • Develop and conduct peer reviews of business requirements to ensure that requirement specifications are correctly interpreted.
    • • Assist with the interpretation of user requirements into feasible options and communicate these to the business stakeholders.
    • • Manage and track the status of requirements throughout the project lifecycle; enforce and redefine as necessary.
    • • Communicate changes, enhancements, and modifications of business requirements to project managers, sponsors, and other stakeholders so that issues and solutions are understood.
    • • Collaborate with other staff members, offering guidance and support when needed.

Required Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including technical writing skills:

    • • Understanding of systems engineering concepts
    • • Requirements gathering and documenting.
    • • Business Case Development
  • Excellent requirement eliciting techniques.:

    • • Interviewing
    • • Brainstorming
    • • Document analysis
  • Excellent data modeling techniques and methods.:

    • • Use Case/User Story writing
    • • Data Flow diagramming
    • • Flowcharting/Process Flow Creation
  • Communication Skills:

    • • both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Working Knowledge of applications:

    • • (Microsoft Office; Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio), Jira, Microsoft Teams, wireframing tools)
  • • Excellent analytical abilities
  • • Knowledge of Agile & Scrum Methodologies
  • • Experience in user testing and project management.

Qualifications

  • • B.Sc. in Computer Science or its equivalent.
  • • Certification in Project Management
  • • Certification in Business Analysis
  • • At least 3 years of working experience as a Business Analyst.
  • • Ability to simultaneously work on multiple projects.
