
Senior Accountant
Summary
Works with management in developing and completing financial modeling, strategic financial planning and forecasting, budget targets, and profitability analysis that will be used as key tools in business decisions, ultimately ensure that all regulatory, statutory and Corporation taxes are kept in a current state – payment and filing and ensure the fixed asset management and control processes are executed efficiently.
Responsibilities
- • Work closely with the strategy team to assess the financial feasibility of projects that will drive strategic decisions.
- • Prepare monthly management accounts for assigned companies.
- • Prepare monthly consolidated management accounts
- • Prepare annual budgets for all GraceKennedy Money Services Companies and prepare rolling consolidated five-year financial forecast annually
- • Prepare finance presentations for quarterly Board and monthly management meetings
- • Update Finance section of the Balance Scorecard based on agreed standards and timelines.
- • Prepare mid-month financial statements
- • Manages the distribution of monthly Variance Reports to Departments and provide clarification on queries from department heads.
- • Conduct other financial analysis and planning activities assigned.
- • Management of all Audit Related Matters (Internal & External).
- • Ensure effective maintenance of the Fixed Asset Register and ensure that for every disposal/addition there is a Capital Movement/Capital Expenditure form.
- • Ensures physical count of all fixed assets throughout the network is completed every three years
- • Ensure that all company taxes (GCT, VAT, Corporation and Statutory) are filed and paid in a timely manner.
- • Ensure the GKMS Group is compliant with IFRS 9 and 16 standards
- • Facilitate staff development and synergies among team members in the unit
Required Skills
- • Strong analytical and modeling skills are needed, together with ability to present reports and recommendations confidently to senior managers.
- • Excellent problem solving and strong analytical skills.
- • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- • In-depth proficiency in spreadsheet applications.
- • Thorough knowledge of financial principles and techniques.
- • Strong working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
- • Excellent interpersonal skills.
- • Excellent organizational skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks effectively.
- • Ability to operate independently; explore new areas/issues thoroughly and to communicate effectively.
- • Computer Literate – to include all MS Office applications,
- • Financial Appraisal techniques
- • An agile mind capable of moving rapidly between significant projects, good interpersonal skills, and an analytical approach.
- • High level of confidentiality
Qualifications
- • ACCA/MBA Level
- • At least two years relevant experience and a sound knowledge of financial sector
