Summary

To provide support to the financial controller and be responsible for the areas of accounting assigned. To ensure that the systems of internal control and procedure are followed for the areas of accounting being managed and highlight any deviations for corrective actions to be taken.

Responsibilities

  • Supervision of the monthly stocktaking exercise at the Carib plant.
  • To ensure that all inventory on plant at month end for Caribbean Products and Golden Grove is properly accounted for, obtain explanations for variances up to the level prescribed by management and ensure that the necessary adjustments are made.
  • To maintain on a timely basis the Fixed Asset Registers for Golden Grove and Caribbean Products and ensure that the system generated Depreciation JV agrees with the registers. To update the Proposal for Expenditure Listings for Golden Grove and Caribbean Products and do the relevant journals to expense or capitalize.
  • To ensure that all Carib liabilities for foreign goods and services received are properly recorded in the monthly accounts and that the import clearing account are reconciled monthly and adjustments booked.
  • To reconcile the Golden Grove Inventory Accounts and prepare the relevant journals.
  • To reconcile the Golden Grove month end Production report with the monthly sales report and prepare the journals to ensure that the sales for sugar and molasses are properly recorded in the monthly accounts.
  • To prepare the monthly Golden Grove Funding Limited management accounts by updating the relevant schedules and preparing the journal.
  • To assist with the preparation of the monthly Golden Grove management accounts.
  • To assist with the preparation of the annual budget.
  • To convert monthly production data into relevant format and then prepare the monthly cost allocation journal.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in accounting software such as:

    • QuickBooks, Sage50/Peachtree, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Xero.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or the equivalent.
  • 1-3 years of experience in accounting, finance or a similar field.
