Quality Assurance Analyst

Summary

Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) in collaboration with eGov will be engaging two (2) Quality Assurance Analysts to test and verify the functionality and quality of application software applications such as Spring Boot Java, at least Angular 9, and PostgreSQL. The main objectives of the assignment are to: ✅Conduct rigorous testing of software solution developed in accordance with specifications. ✅ Provide guidance to the team, and possibly clients, regarding test design, test planning and strategies to be employed during testing. ✅ Propose appropriate testing frameworks, platforms, and environments for software testing. ✅ Facilitate knowledge sharing workshops with TAJ counterparts to build capacity within TAJ. 💰Basic Salary: $6,333,300 JMD per annum.

Responsibilities

• Scope Of Work:

  • • Test applications developed in Spring Boot Java, at least Angular 9, and PostgreSQL.
  • • Perform integration testing following Adaptive maintenance (database migration, migration from deprecated OS), and assist with some business analysis activities such as writing user stories/requirements.
  • • Provide guidance in defect management.
  • • Lead the User Acceptance Testing activities.
  • • Assist with application knowledge transfer as required.

• Key Technical Duties:

  • • Manage identified and reported defects through to resolution.
  • • Suggests and uses appropriate testing strategies.
  • • Plans and initiates automated testing as appropriate.
  • • Proposes appropriate testing frameworks, platforms, and environments for software testing.
  • • Selects appropriate testing tools and techniques to be employed on a project.
  • • Conducts and reviews system designs to ensure quality requirements are met.
  • • Selects, establishes or proposes project standards for test designs and plans as appropriate.
  • • Assists the team, and possibly clients, regarding test design, test planning and strategies to be employed during testing.
  • • Assists with application knowledge transfer as required.
  • • Contributes to the implementation plan, estimates the effort required to undertake tasks.

• The principal Project deliverables are:

  • • Test cases covering various test types such as Functional, Stress, Environmental, Regression, Performance/Load Testing designed and created.
  • • Test cases which describes the scope, approach/strategy, risks, estimation, resources, schedule and deliverables of the intended testing activities to be undertaken and created.
  • • Defect report with information about all defects that were raised during the testing cycle documented.
  • • Documentation of data standards and tracking of variation from standards conducted.
  • • Quality assurance process assessed and determined.
  • • Application at all stages tested.

• Coordination and Supervision:

  • • The Quality Assurance Analyst will report to the assigned eGovJa Manager or designate who will have overall responsibility for ensuring the quality and timeliness of the deliverable of this Consultancy.
  • • The reporting schedule, medium and content of reports will be determined by the eGov Manager in collaboration with the Chief ICT Officer - TAJ or designate.
  • • The Quality Assurance Analyst will be working closely with TAJ’s respective IT Experts and the TAJ’s Business Requirement Unit.
  • • The Consultant will work with other public sector and private sector entities, as required, to determine resource requirements to achieve the project deliverables.

Required Skills

• Specific Technical Requirements:

  • • Expert knowledge of functional and non-functional testing.
  • • Expert knowledge of Java, Java Script, PostgreSQL.
  • • Proficient with at least one (1) test automation tool.
  • • Expert knowledge in agile software development practices such as Agile testing, SCRUM, Continuous Integration (CI), DevOps and Test Automation.
  • • Excellent knowledge of Office Software such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Access;
  • • Excellent knowledge of data manipulation tools and techniques;
  • • Excellent knowledge and experience in writing SQL queries, developing reports and working with Microsoft SQL Server environment;
  • • Comprehensive knowledge in the testing and implementation of at least two major applications.

  • • Very good time management and customer service skills.

Qualifications

• • B.Sc. Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Science or related discipline from a recognized tertiary institution.
• • At least 4 years of experience in a software development environment or system quality assurance experience.
• • Certification in ISTQB would be an asset.
• • Experience in automated testing would be an asset.
