Data Visualization Senior Analyst

Summary

This person is responsible for facilitating data-driven decision-making by creating and presenting complex data in a clear and user-friendly manner. Key responsibilities include designing and developing visually engaging and insightful dashboards using Microsoft Power BI, as well as extracting, transforming, and loading data from various sources. Additionally, the role requires developing and optimizing data models and pipelines to ensure efficient dashboard performance. Closing Date: 31/05/2025

Responsibilities

• • Design and develop interactive data visualizations, insights and dashboards using Microsoft Power BI
• • Extract, transform, and load data from various sources (including source systems, Enterprise Data Warehouse, cloud, and flat files).
• • Develop and optimize data models and pipelines for efficient dashboard performance.
• • Test data models, pipelines, and dashboard visualizations to ensure accuracy and functionality.
• • Work collaboratively with various stakeholders, documenting and mapping business process and requirements; identifying the end user's needs; and facilitating the business process redesign and documentation, as needed.
• • Act as the data subject matter expert for the team, including responsibilities for tool introductions, dashboard reviews, and issue troubleshooting.
• • Build a thorough understanding of the various and often complex systems and data elements to create, support, and enhance both scheduled and ad-hoc reports, dashboards, and data sets, ensuring data, reports, and analysis are consistent, accurate, and complete.
• • Identify opportunities for innovation within executed tasks, processes and projects that contribute to the improved efficiency and effectiveness of the workgroup.
• • In this role, approximately 80-85% of the work involves data modelling, including developing and optimizing data models and pipelines for efficient dashboard performance. The remaining 15-20% of the work focuses on data visualization, designing and developing interactive data visualizations, insights, and dashboards using Microsoft Power BI.

Qualifications

• • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or information technology with specialization in data analytics.
• • A minimum 5 years’ experience in in data preparation, operational and management reporting, business intelligence, dashboarding, and ad hoc analytics.
• • Advanced skills in Power BI, including Power Query and DAX, and the development of complex visualizations and dashboards required.
• • Proficiency with SQL and Python with a focus on Spark SQL is a plus.
• • Knowledge of data visualization best practices and ability to create visually appealing, informative dashboards that effectively communicate data insights is required.
• • Experience with Azure cloud data platforms and in utilizing Databricks for data processing and analytics preferred.
• • Knowledge of data warehousing, ETL processes, and data modelling concepts is preferred.
• • Solid verbal/written communication, problem-solving, analytical, and independent judgment skills to support an environment driven by customer service and teamwork.
• • Ability to work independently and work well within a team.
• • Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to adhere to deadlines.
• • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

• SPECIAL CONDITIONS:

  • • Expected to work in a fast-paced team environment
  • • Will be working primarily in a paperless environment and expected to be using information systems for the entire workday to access data or perform activities
  • • May be required to work extended hours periodically or on public holidays
