Community Development Officer
Summary
The Social Development Commission, a dynamic statutory organization engaged in facilitating empowerment of citizens in communities thus enabling their participation in the National Development process, invites applications from suitably qualified persons for the following temporary contractual position (Contract will be for six months): Community Development Officer (Portmore, St. Catherine, St. Ann, St. James, St. Elizabeth & KSA) The Community Development Officer has the responsibility for establishing and maintaining broad base community management structures informed by participatory research methodologies to guide the planning process as well as to manage the implementation of all the programmes in the assigned communities as per the SDC’s strategic business plan. 💰Salary: $5,198,035 to $6,990,779 JMD per annum

- • Knowledge in programme budgeting and financial management;
- • Knowledge in social work principles and practices;
- • Familiarity with community development policies, programmes and best practices;
- • Ability to design and implement Training and Development initiatives for diverse stakeholders;
- • Proficiency in computer applications such as spreadsheet, word processing and PowerPoint.
Qualifications
- • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences preferably Social Work, Psychology or Human Resources Management/ Marketing/ Business Management;
- • Two (2) years’ experience in the Community Development field.
Additional Information and Instructions
Special Conditions Associated with the job:
- • Work will be conducted in an office outfitted with standard office equipment and specialized software. The environment is fast paced with on-going interactions with critical stakeholders and meeting tight deadlines which will result in high degrees of pressure, on occasions.
- • Work will also be conducted in communities on a regular basis;
- • Exposure to weather conditions in the field.
- • Should own and operate a reliable motor vehicle.
