
Manager, Credit (FC7)
Summary
The Credit Manager provides direct support to the relationship team by working within their assigned portfolio and is responsible for the delivery of the credit solutions to both existing and new clients. The incumbent understands the Bank’s clients’ operations to identify opportunities to provide appropriate financial solutions. The Manager is a portfolio manager and credit specialist and supports the Senior Manager, Credit Underwriting and the wider Credit Underwriting and Portfolio Management team, by managing an assigned portfolio of clients and as otherwise required to act as a conduit to CRMD for the sanctioning purposes. Develops and maintains a working knowledge of clients’ companies, industry and regulatory issues impacting economic/political trends and clients’ requirements in order to develop appropriate credit solutions. The incumbent has accountability for the effective delivery of governance, risk management, controls and compliance within their area of responsibility. The Manager ensures that the Bank’s client experience is delivered to clients through the Bank’s service partners by the coordination of the support team and champions client resolutions leveraging appropriate partners to resolve client concerns.
Responsibilities
- • Primary responsibility for a portfolio of 75-100 assigned clients. Portfolio will comprise clients with low to medium to low complexity.
- • Completes analysis of client requests, preparation and submission of credit applications containing complete and detailed assessments of business, credit and financial analysis to support requests for new and/ or increased credit facilities.
- • Effectively manages, monitors and controls the entire (end to end) credit process for new loans, including application/processing/underwriting/ approval/closing), and post-closing documentation reviews for assigned portfolio as well as conducting reviews of the facilities as required.
- • Effectively manages and monitors portfolio quality by ensuring that credit monitoring tools are effectively utilised in a timely manner, e.g. timely actioning of IBM on demand control reports, timely preparation and submission of credit reviews.
- • Works in partnership with the Corporate Managers, Senior Manager, Credit Underwriting and Senior Manager, Portfolio Management, and Investment Banking as required on new and existing credit applications, providing guidance on risks, issues and mitigants, pricing that achieves appropriate risk/reward targets and on overall credit appetite for client.
- • Takes an active role in the delivery of risk management and compliance within the Bank’s internal control and assurance Framework including adherence to the Bank’s AML and KYC standards.
- • Attends clients’ meetings with Corporate Managers to support credit solutions and annual reviews.
- • Develops and maintains close working relationship and contacts with clients to obtain and provide information and advice, conducts interviews and relays information regarding the Bank’s processes and requirements, as it relates to credit products.
- • Monitors and controls accounts within the assigned client portfolio, reviewing the quality of the portfolio in line with policy and guidelines. Discusses with Corporate Managers and CRMD any trigger points or issues causing concern.
- • Participates in meetings with Corporate Managers, as required, to agree on action plans and strategies for clients within assigned portfolio.
- • Completes all relevant risk reviews, including covenant monitoring and control, out of order collateral, delinquency, excess management, annual review and expiry management. Completes reporting including early warning questionnaires, proposing EWL strategies, portfolio level reporting, etc.
- • Assists the team to maintain and grow strong relationships with existing clients with a view to protecting the Bank’s existing client base, maximising revenue generation from these relationships.
- • Keeps updated on products and processes and any changes to ensure effective and efficient service to clients. Keeps abreast of industry-related information to opportunity spot and deliver value-add content for clients.

Qualifications
Critical Knowledge Required:
- • Comprehensive understanding of the Bank’s credit risk policies and procedures
- • In-Good knowledge of the Bank’s suite of product, processes and procedures with an emphasis on the lending suite
- • Working knowledge of operational risk policies and procedures, compliance and fraud prevention
- • Understanding of regulatory and bank prudential limits
- • Numerate with related IT skills
- • Understanding of CIBC Caribbean’s client offerings in terms of sales and service model
- • Knowledge of products, pricing, services and applicability to customer requirements
- • Knowledge of branch processes including product and service sales and delivery – in order to refer clients as needed
- • Knowledge of Corporate processes, policies and procedures
- • Good knowledge of needs of corporate clients
- • Knowledge of clients and knowledge of the markets in which they operate
- • Knowledge of corporate lending practices and credit analysis
Experience Required:
- • Graduate status with ACIB or accounting/professional qualification
- • Knowledge of credit analysis skills and experience
- • Good understanding of financial statements and accounting principles
- • Good analytical ability including demonstrated knowledge of cash flow analysis and financial modelling capabilities
