Auditor

Summary

The Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) invites suitably qualified persons to enlist in the JDF as a Professional Entry Enlisted Rank (PEER) to fill the following position: Auditor Candidates must meet the following requirements and competencies. Nationality: Be a citizen of the Commonwealth.

Responsibilities

• • Accumulate data, maintain records, and prepare reports on the administration of audits.
• • Develop a comprehensive, practical programme of audit of assigned areas to ensure that professional standards are maintained.
• • Identify factors causing deficient conditions and recommends courses of action to improve the conditions including special surveys and audits.
• • Appraise the adequacy of the corrective action taken to improve deficient conditions.
• • Perform other related duties as required.

Required Skills

• Knowledge and Technical Skills:

  • • Knowledge of internal audit techniques, auditing principles and auditing standards.
  • • Excellent knowledge of the Financial Administration and Audit (FAA) Act, Public Service Regulations and other relevant instructions.
  • • Competent in analysing and interpreting financial and accounting reports.

• Critical and Analytical Thinking Skills:

  • • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work cohesively within a diverse community.
  • • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • • Good judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• • Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Management Studies with Accounting or Associate Degree in Accounting i n addition to a Diploma in Government Accounting Course.
• • ACCA Level 2 or 3.
• • A minimum of three (3) years of internal auditing experience.

  • • Must demonstrate the aptitude and desire to assimilate into military life.

• Military Standards:

  • • In addition to the academic qualifications and competencies, candidates must b e able to pass the assessment requirements for enlistment in the JDF.
