Summary

The National Works Agency, an Executive Agency of the Government of Jamaica is seeking suitably qualified individuals for the under-mentioned position.. Civil Engineer (Level 6) 💰Salary: $4,266,270 JMD per annum

Responsibilities

• • Inspection of the conditions of existing bridges and buildings.
• • Retaining and containing structures to assist in the maintenance of these structures.
• • Preparation of basic structural designs, working drawings, and specifications.
• • Execution of designs.
• • Assisting in the review of work done by consultants.
• • Conducting site visits for the setup of programs and construction monitoring.
• • Supervision during construction for all such structures under the NWA.
• • Attending meetings as a statutory obligation with other government agencies.
• • Participating in tender review and preparing reports for the NWA Procurement Committee.

Required Skills

• • Training in Civil Engineering.
• • Basic project planning and management skills.
• • Working knowledge of contract management.
• • Competence in designing and interpreting engineering drawings, briefs, and diagrams.
• • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms.
• • Proficiency in computer applications.

Qualifications

• • B.Sc. in Civil Engineering.
• • Minimum of three (3) years of post-graduate experience in Civil Engineering, with knowledge of bridge design, retaining structures, and other Civil Engineering structures, including road construction.
