A collections agent is responsible for contacting customers to recover outstanding debts, negotiating payment arrangements, and maintaining accurate records while ensuring compliance with company policies and legal regulations.

Responsibilities
We contact businesses to discuss the unpaid amounts. The responsibilities include:
- • Identify and notify customers of overdue energy bills.
- • Process payments received and accurately update customer accounts.
- • Advise customers on outstanding balances and follow up persistently to ensure timely payments.
- • Initiate service disconnection or legal proceedings for non-payment.
- • Maintain detailed and accurate records of customer interactions and account statuses.
- • Proactively address and resolve customer issues, complaints, and queries.
- • Offer clear, empathetic solutions to customers, working collaboratively to achieve beneficial outcomes for both the customer and the energy company.
Qualifications
- • Previous experience in collections and customer service.
- • Ability to build rapport with clients.
- • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- • Ability to prioritize and multitask.
- • A bonus would be to have experience working in the energy/utility business or common knowledge of how they operate.
- • Comfortable with negotiating.
- • Able to stay calm and lead a conversation.
- • Computer proficiency, able to comfortably navigate multiple systems (including telephony, online video meeting rooms, and a chat platform, used to ask for and receive internal support).
- • 1-2 years hard/soft collections (call center) preferred.
- • High school diploma or equivalent required
- • Post Secondary education is considered an asset.
