
Shipping Supervisor
Summary
The incumbent is responsible for ensuring the seamless processing of shipments and assisting with the management of the warehouse. The Shipping Supervisor understands the impact of this position to other business functions that depend on accuracy and efficiency of outgoing items. Inventory management is an essential function for this position.
Responsibilities
- • Lead and supervise warehouse team consisting of attendants, forklift operators, and pickers.
- • Conduct daily briefings to communicate workload, safety protocols, and performance targets.
- • Provide training on warehouse procedures, WMS usage, and safety compliance.
- • Monitor staff performance and address any inefficiencies or non-compliance.
- • Enforce warehouse safety protocols, including proper equipment handling and PPE usage.
- • Conduct regular safety inspections and ensure compliance with company policies.
- • Ensure efficient use of Warehouse Management System (WMS) and handhelds to enhance productivity.
- • Oversee inbound shipments and ensure accurate receipt of products.
- • Verify product quality and report any discrepancies or damages.
- • Ensure proper documentation and system updates for received inventory.
- • Coordinate with inventory control to ensure timely and accurate put-away of products.
- • Supervise picking activities to ensure order accuracy and timely fulfillment.
- • Monitor picking productivity and implement improvements where necessary.
- • Ensure physical organization of warehouse space as well as system inventory accuracy.
- • Ensure FIFO is practiced
- • Conduct stock counts monthly and spot counts when requested.
- • Oversee the loading process to ensure proper stacking, weight distribution, and load security.
- • Verify that loaded shipments align with delivery schedules and customer requirements.
- • Ensure all dispatch documentations are accurately completed.
- • Coordinate with the logistics team to optimize the fleet turnaround times and utilization.
- • Identify process gaps and work with manager to implement solutions to improve warehouse efficiency.
- • Work with the Warehouse Manager to optimize layout and space utilization.
- • Track and report key performance metrics related to inventory management, receiving, picking, and loading.
Qualifications
- • Tertiary level degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management or related field
- • Minimum 3-5 years' experience working in a warehouse environment, with at least 2 years in supervisory role.
- • Experience in food distribution, FMCG or logistics preferred
- • Demonstrated ability to operate material handling equipment including forklift truck.
