Cloud Solution Architect

Summary

The Cloud Solution Architect will be responsible for steering and driving the cloud strategy. He/she will be responsible for overseeing the operations performed by Virtual Infrastructure Administrator as well as designing and overseeing cloud computing solutions. This includes understanding business needs, selecting cloud services and ensuring the solutions are secure, scalable and cost effective. The salary is J$4.82 million per annum plus any current allowances attached to this position.

Responsibilities

• • Designs, implements, and maintains all cloud infrastructure and services within a managed service environment.
• • Designs, deploys and maintains enterprise class security, network and systems management applications within a cloud environment
• • Designs and implements availability, scalability, and performance plans for the cloud managed service environment.
• • Re-evaluates existing stack and infrastructure to maintain optimal performance, availability, and security.
• • Implements process and quality improvements through task automation. Defines and institutes infrastructure as code, security automation and automation or routine maintenance tasks.
• • Tracks and monitors metrics around cloud infrastructure performance and service requests.
• • Manages compliance, validation, and security related initiatives, including business continuity planning for cloud services

• • Excellent Knowledge of DevOps methods and CI/CD automation practices
• • Excellent Knowledge of Data Migration Practices and Technologies
• • Excellent Knowledge of Containerization Technologies (Docker, LXC, etc.)

Qualifications

• • Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or Business Administration from a recognized tertiary institution.
• • Five (5) years of relevant experience in management, with exposure to the cloud computing environment.
• • Professional level certification in one or more public cloud services such as Microsoft Azure, AWS and Google Cloud preferred.
• • Strong knowledge of Web Services, API Gateways and application integration development and design.
• • Strong background in Linux and Windows Server administration.
• • Knowledge of agile software development practices and release management would be an asset.

• Sound understanding of Cloud Computing:

  • • virtualization technologies, Infrastructure as a Service, Platform as a Service and Software as a Service Cloud delivery models and the current competitive landscape.
• • Experience in full life cycle software design and development with Core Java/J2EE would be an asset.
• • Experience with automation/configuration management using Puppet, Chef, Ansible or similar.
