Structured Finance Analyst
Summary
The Structured Finance Analyst will be expected to play a critical role in meeting the unique financial needs of corporate clients- involving but not limited to, a combination of financial analysis, risk assessment, deal structuring, and client interaction.
Responsibilities
- • Utilize modeling techniques\tools to produce models to support credit proposals, incorporating various analysis and forecasting of key variables to aid in the decision-making process.
- • Analyze the financial needs of corporate clients, and structure financing solutions that may involve complex financial instruments.
- • Evaluate creditworthiness, assess attrition risk, and other risks associated with structuring financing deals.
- • Collaborate with other departments within the bank- such as risk management and legal teams, to ensure compliance with regulations and internal policies.
- • Recommend alternative terms, conditions, and covenants to provide viable banking proposals to the client within sound credit lending practices.
- • Conduct regular review of terms and conditions of complex facilities to ensure that all conditions are being satisfied and where necessary prepare reports of findings of deficiencies and outline preemptive actions to be taken to ensure the continued viability of the transactions.
- • Monitor loan disbursements to ensure that conditions satisfied, and disbursements done in a timely manner and in alignment with terms and conditions.
- • Provide briefings and material to the Managers and Vice President on emerging and bespoke financial products that may be incorporated in the structuring process.
- • Conduct market research and provide recommendations to the unit on local & international market conditions and developments that may impact the bank and clients.
Provide support to the Corporate Management Team:
- • Respond to customers’ credit related questions and enquiries.
- • Perform ongoing relationship enhancing activities such as customer visits.
- • Participate in product development and lead in credit related initiatives.
Carry out a range of administrative functions in support of the account management team.:
- • Track and monitor new sales performance.
Monitor maturing and past due loans to ensure prompt collection with collaboration of the Corporate Banking Managers.:
- • Identify deteriorating trends by monitoring margins,
- • Recommend corrective action such as increasing margins and securities, selling assets, etc. depending on loan and type of client.
Required Skills
- • Proficiency in quantitative analysis and financial modeling using tools like Excel, and financial modeling software.
- • Excellent problem-solving, coordination, and organizational skills.
- • Ability to work under pressure and in a team-oriented environment.
- • Excellent time management, communication, listening, verbal, and written presentation skills.
- • Analytical skills and an ability to assess lending risks.
- • Knowledge of computer applications used by the Bank.
Qualifications
- • First degree in Management Studies, Finance, Actuarial Sciences, Statistics Economics or equivalent with a minimum of two (2) years experience in Banking at the supervisory level including experience in credit appraisals OR A Diploma in Management Studies with a minimum of six (6) years experience in Banking at the supervisory level including at least three (3) years in credit analysis.
- • Pursuit of, or relevant professional certification for example CFA level 1, FRM level 1, or FMVA would be an asset.
