Internal Auditor

Summary

Under the general supervision of the Chief Internal Auditor (CIA), the Internal Auditor is required to work on his/her own initiative and meet exacting standards in the conduct of operational, financial, and compliance auditing for the Agency in accordance with Government’s internal audit regulations and standards.

Responsibilities

• • Conducts Operational, Compliance and Financial audits under the guidance of the Chief Internal Auditor.
• • Conducts special reviews/investigations and verifications as may be required under the guidance of the Chief Internal Auditor.

• Conducts internal audits of the Agency’s Quality Management System (QMS) to determine compliance with the ISO 9001:

  • • 2015 Standard and the Agency’s requirements.
• • Prepares monthly report on the work of the Unit for submission to the CIA for review; participates in the preparation of quarterly reports for submission to the Audit Committee and to the Executive Agencies Monitoring Unit.
• • Participates in the development of the Risk-Based Audit Plan.
• • Conducts physical check of inventory and makes periodic checks of stocks, tools, furniture, equipment, motor vehicles other GOJ assets.
• • Assists with the verification of the Agency’s key performance indicators.
• • Surveys functions and activities in assigned areas to determine the nature of operations and adequacy of system of control to achieve established objectives.
• • Conducts and reports on the testing and adequacy of the Agency’s internal controls over financial reporting.
• • Verifies the adequacy and accuracy of financial records; examines and appraises financial and accounting practices, systems and procedures.
• • Investigates and determines causes of irregularities and errors; recommends corrective action and suggests improvement.

• • Knowledge of the FAA Act, PBMA Act, and Regulations.
• • Sound knowledge of auditing principles.
• • Ability to critically assess accounting and operating systems and procedures.

Qualifications

• • BSc Degree in Accounting or Management Studies or equivalent relevant qualification from a recognized tertiary institution.
• • Completion of relevant Government Accounting Courses.
• • At least three (3) years related accounting or auditing experience.

• • Association of Certified Chartered Accountant Level 2 (ACCA II) or any equivalent recognized professional qualification in accounting or management.
• • Associate Degree in Accounting (MIND) along with the completion of the revised Certificate in Government Accounting.
• • At least four (4) years related accounting or auditing experience.
