
Compliance Officer
Summary
The incumbent will be responsible for the monitoring of the various compliance programmes, ensuring that vulnerability to operational and AML/CFT risks are minimized.
Responsibilities
- • Assist with the development of guidelines and programmes related to Anti-money Laundering compliance or otherwise.
- • Assist in revising existing compliance programmes to reflect changes in compliance related laws and regulations and contribute towards the development of communication to impacted stakeholders to sensitise them of material changes.
- • Contribute towards the development of training material and assist with training as required to promote AML and Compliance with regulations.
- • Conduct ongoing assessment of the established parameters in the AML solution, and escalate to the Senior Manager, Compliance, recommendations for amendments to the existing parameters.
- • Undertake Transaction Monitoring Activities within the Anti Money Laundering software in accordance with established parameters.
- • Review transactions to mitigate any attempts at money laundering or terrorist financing and prepare the necessary regulatory report for all unusual or suspicious activities that are identified for review and submission to Designated Authority.
- • Conduct Enhanced Due Diligence reviews for High Risk customers including Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs), MSB and other customers as assigned, and escalate outcomes as necessary, to impacted stakeholders for remediation.
- • Assist with the review of Threshold Transactions Reports and ensure timely submission to the Financial Investigations Division.
- • Prepare regulatory reports as required for review for submission to the Designated Authority (FID) and Competent Authority (TAJ) within the stipulated timeline.
- • Assist with the coordination of the fit & proper process for new entrants, promoted officers.
Required Skills
- • Knowledge of the Regulations & Acts governing the Financial Services industry
- • Knowledge of the various regulations governing Anti-money Laundering and the Prevention of Terrorist Financing
- • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite e.g. WORD , EXCEL, POWERPOINT
- • Strong understanding of the use of information technology and the operation environment in financial institutions
- • Excellent communication and presentation skills
- • Ability to develop policy and procedure documentation
- • Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills
- • Ability to maintain a high level of integrity and confidentiality
- • Capable of working independently, has good judgment and decision making skills, and is self-motivat
Qualifications
- • A Bachelor’s Degree in Management Studies, Finance, Accounts or equivalent
- • Minimum three (3) years’ experience in internal audit, compliance, finance, accounting or operations in the financial sector
