
Electrician
Summary
Reporting to the Electrical Supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for the overall maintenance and repair of electrical machinery and equipment, including but not limited to standby generators, Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), Direct Current (DC) Supply systems, Rectifiers/Battery Chargers and Power Conditioners. The incumbent is required to provide specialized technical support in the delivery of efficient air navigation services through the maintenance of electrical systems at navigation sites including but not limited to radio transmitters, radio receivers, precision approach radar and radio beacons.
Required Skills
Key Technical Competencies Required:
- • Excellent knowledge of industrial electrical wiring and installation.
- • Excellent knowledge of power generation systems
- • Excellent Knowledge of Grounding systems
- • Excellent Knowledge of care and maintenance of heavy duty industrial batteries.
- • Excellent knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC)
- • Excellent Knowledge of Uninterruptible Power Supply systems up to 50 KVA
- • Excellent knowledge of High Voltage (HV) transformers.
- • Excellent knowledge of wiring as it relates to all lighting systems to include high wattage security lighting systems
- • Excellent knowledge of electrical cables and the use of different cable sizes for the different industrial applications
- • Excellent knowledge of A/C and DC motors and their applications
- • Excellent knowledge of Power Electronics
- • Excellent knowledge of equipment maintenance and repairs techniques
- • Excellent maintenance of automatic controls and airfield lighting devices
- • Ability to read and design and interpret wiring diagrams and other
- • specifications

- • Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
- • Must be computer literate
- • Good oral and written communication skills
- • Excellent interpersonal skills
- • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- • Good initiative and decision-making skills
Qualifications
- • Diploma in Electrical Installation
- • Five (5) years’ relevant experience in the field of electrical repairs with emphasis on standby generators transfer switches, maintenance of heavy duty industrial batteries and the repair and maintenance of high capacity UPS systems
- • Holder of a valid electrical license
