General Instrumentation Mechanic

Summary

Jamalco is seeking suitably qualified, experienced, and safety-focused individuals to fill General Instrumentation Mechanic positions in the Process Control (Refinery Automation) department at its Halse Hall, Clarendon location.

Responsibilities

• Executing safe and efficient Instrument corrective maintenance activities throughout the operations.
• Maintaining production continuity by participating in planning and scheduling activities and repairing instruments while providing technical support for all shifts.
• Maintaining high levels of instrument equipment reliability through the use of timely preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance, and by the use of troubleshooting, capability analysis, and diagnostic techniques.
• Maintaining operating standards, quality, and statutory regulatory compliance of the Instrument Systems throughout the operations.
• Contributing to the satisfactory introduction of new equipment by participating in the planning, modification, upgrading, installation, and commissioning of such equipment.

Required Skills

• Knowledge and interpretation of Instrument/Electrical manuals, drawings, and specification blueprints.
• Special skill in installation and maintenance of instrument/electrical equipment and systems with process knowledge.
• Competence in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with other mechanics and supervisors.

Qualifications

• Minimum Secondary level education - HEART Certificate Level 3 in Instrumentation and Control with certified passes at GCE/CXC/UCLCI level or equivalent in Mathematics, English, and a Science subject.
• Three (3) years' experience as Grade 1 Instrument Mechanic.
