Summary

To prepare and present public education and information programmes; co-ordinate meetings, conferences, seminars and workshops and disseminate educational information through the various communication channels and training to both internal and external stakeholders; as well as promotes e-Services offered by Tax Administration Jamaica 💰Salary: $6,333,301 – $8,517,585 JMD per annum

Responsibilities

  • Key Outputs:

    • • Assigned Taxpayer Education Programmes co-ordinated and executed;
    • • e-Services activities conducted;
    • • Schools’ Taxpayer Education Programme (STEP) co-ordinated and executed;
    • • Special Taxpayer Assistance Programme (STAP) co-ordinated and executed;
    • • Taxpayer Advisory Visits and registration verification conducted;
    • • Seminar and workshop coordinated and conducted;
    • • Queries answered;
    • • Reports prepared and submitted.
  • Technical and Professional Duties:

    • • Coordinates and executes assigned Taxpayer Education Programmes by the Programmes Branch;
    • • Conducts e-Service activities to include promotion of online services (e.g licences /registration) and assists taxpayers on the use of the e-Service platform;
    • • Co-ordinates and executes STEP at various educational institutions island wide;
    • • Assists in conducting periodic taxpayer awareness surveys to evaluate the impact of present education programmes;
    • • Liaises with the Manager regarding the development of an annual STAP;
    • • Reviews articles prepared for magazines and pamphlets for circulation;
    • • Maintains database of queries and information;
    • • Liaises/consults with both internal and external stakeholders in addressing various requests;
    • • Responds to queries put forward by various stakeholders to include taxpayers;
    • • Represents TAJ at various seminars, trade fairs and expositions;
    • • Updates and maintains files of printed articles relating to taxpayer matters, government matters (e.g. new taxes) etc;
    • • Liaises with the Manager regarding the design of posters and flyers;
    • • Represents the Unit at meetings and functions as requested by the Manager;
    • • Prepares and conducts presentation, seminars and training programmes for all stakeholders;
    • • Supports the identification and management of risks within the organization and by extension the respective area of work;
    • • Performs any other related duties assigned by the Manager, Taxpayer Education.
  • This job is satisfactorily performed when:

    • • Assigned Taxpayer Education Programmes co-ordinated and executed as scheduled;
    • • E-Services activities conducted as scheduled;
    • • Special Taxpayer Education Programmes are co-ordinated and executed within the scheduled timeframe;
    • • Taxpayer Advisory Visits and Registration Verification are conducted according to schedule;
    • • Special Taxpayer Assistance Programmes (STAP) are coordinated and executed as scheduled;
    • • Seminar and workshop are properly coordinated and conducted as scheduled;
    • • Accurate information is provided to all queries received within the stipulated timeframe;
    • • Reports prepared and submitted in keeping with established standard and agreed timelines;
  • Authority To:

    • • Promote activities relating to Taxpayer Education programmes;
    • • Provide and advise taxpayers on tax related matters;
    • • Make presentations on new and existing legislation and tax measures;
    • • Recommend changes to taxpayers’ education programmes.

Required Skills

  • Specific Knowledge:

    • • Comprehensive knowledge of Tax Administration Jamaica’s operations and functions;
    • • Comprehensive knowledge of Revenue laws and regulations;
    • • Working knowledge of the TAJ ’s Code of Conduct;
    • • Working knowledge of relevant computer systems and applications.
  • Required Skills and Specialised Techniques:

    • • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
    • • Excellent presentation skills;
    • • Excellent time management skills;
    • • Excellent planning and organising skills.

Qualifications

  • • B.A in Mass Communication/Education or related area or the equivalent;
  • • Two (2) years work related experience.

Additional Information and Instructions

  • Working Conditions:

    • • Sometimes unfavourable working environment;
    • • Required to work Irregular hours;
    • • Travel (60%-80%).
