Summary

Have responsibility for the designing, building, and maintaining of data pipelines that stores, processes, and retrieves large and complex datasets, ensuring data quality and scalability. Provide support to the design and implementation of scalable databases, data warehouse and data lakes. Have responsibility for creating ETL (extract, transform, load) solutions and integration points (APIs) for fast and efficient data access as well as the documentation of data lineage and transformation rules used in data processing.

Responsibilities

  • Develop data pipelines and integration points to provide accessible, reliable and on-time data to the organization.:

    • • Identify business requirements that are necessary to develop ETL and API solutions.
    • • Design and document data lineage and data flow diagrams.
    • • Develop data pipelines based on requirements and design documentation.
    • • Communicate with necessary stakeholders to gather additional information and requirements.
  • • Monitor and measure the quality and performance of ETL processes.
  • Create databases such as DataMart to facilitate clean, reliable, efficient and secure storage of data.:

    • • Identify business requirements that are necessary to develop semantic models.
    • • Represent documentation in an easy-to-understand format.
    • • Communicate with the necessary stakeholders to gather requirements.
    • • Develop DataMart in agreed timeline.
  • • Influence data & analytics strategic direction.
  • • Prepare and clean data in accordance with data governance standards and policies.
  • • Provide support and strategies to aid data migration initiatives across Sagicor Group.
  • • Maintain high level documentation of the group’s data migration strategy.
  • • Participate in the planning and development of data analytics department initiatives.
  • • Collect, process and transform data from big data sources that will support the organization’s objective.
  • • Provide real time or on-time processing and storing of data.
  • • Perform other related duties assigned from time to time.

Required Skills

  • • Expert knowledge of OLAP multidimensional data modelling and design, writing SQL queries, stored procedures and creating ETL Packages (SSIS Packages).
  • • Technical knowledge of data warehouse and data lakes design methodology.
  • • Expert data preparation and cleansing technique.
  • Strong knowledge working with SQL (relational), and NoSQL (none-relational) databases, with one or more major vendors:

    • • Microsoft SQL Server, SAP, Oracle, IBM and MongoDB.
  • • Strong knowledge in one or more programming languages such as Python and C# using .NET Core.
  • • Strong Knowledge in creating integration solutions (APIs) using one or more of programming languages mentioned.
  • • Knowledge in using source code management tools such Git, bitbucket or Azure DevOps.
  • • Knowledge in creating data pipeline such as data factories in one or more cloud technologies such as GCP, Microsoft Azure and AWS.
  • • Knowledge in big data and streaming data processing, using tools such as Hadoop, Spark, HIV or Presto.
  • • Good understanding of the Agile development methodology.
  • • Good knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
  • • Sound knowledge of computer software packages including word processing and spreadsheet applications.

Qualifications

  • • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Technology, or similar discipline from a recognized tertiary institution.
  • • Formal training in Project Management, as well as training and experience using Oracle and MS-SQL administration and development tools.
  • • Minimum of three (3) years working experience with increasing responsibility, with at least two (2) major data warehouse/ data migration projects.
  • • Experience in systems programming using Microsoft development tools such as .NET and SQL Server Integration services and experience in the management of complex Enterprise Resource Planning tools in the banking and financial services industry.
