Sanitation Technician - Tote Room

Summary

The Best Dressed Chicken Division of Jamaica Broilers Group Limited is seeking a detail-oriented Sanitation Technician to join our Quality Assurance and Services Department at our Processing Plant in Spring Village, St. Catherine. The successful candidate will assists in managing the plastic tote and tray storage area, overseeing the issuance process to processing facilities.

Responsibilities

• • Manage the plastic tote and tray storage area.
• • Oversee the process of issuing totes, covers, and trays to processing facilities.
• • Ensure proper washing, sanitizing, sorting, stacking, and preparation of totes, covers, and trays for use.
• • Conduct quality control inspections of totes, covers, and trays.
• • Report any non-conformances.
• • Verify the use of authorized chemicals for cleaning and sanitizing.
• • Maintain accurate records related to tote and tray management.

Required Skills

• • Knowledge of food microbiology, sanitation principles, HACCP, and Integrated Pest Management (IPM).
• • Analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to proactively identify and mitigate risks.
• • Understanding of regulatory standards, detergent/sanitizer chemistry, and food safety compliance.
• • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• • Highly organized and results-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and independently.

Qualifications

• • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Food Science, or a related field.
• • Formal training in Food Processing Plant Sanitation would be an asset.
• • A minimum of one (1) year's experience in sanitation roles within the food industry with a strong understanding of HACCP, SOPs, and Quality Assurance practices.
• • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

• Other Requirements:

  • • Flexibility to work on shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
  • • Willingness to work on a contractual basis.
