Summary
The Jamaica Cancer Society is seeking a reliable and courteous individual to serve as Driver. The successful candidate will be responsible for transporting staff and stakeholders safely and efficiently, delivering mail and packages, and ensuring the upkeep of the assigned vehicle. The role involves consistent travel within the corporate area and to locations island-wide.
Responsibilities
- • Safely transport staff to and from health outreaches, community events, meetings, and official functions, both within and outside the corporate area.
- • Pick up and deliver mail, packages, and official documents to business establishments, government offices, and partners, ensuring accurate handover and proper documentation.
- • Maintain detailed and accurate delivery logs, including the time of delivery, recipient signatures, and any issues encountered during transit.
- • Ensure timely pick-up and drop-off of staff and materials in accordance with event or clinic schedules.
- • Maintain the assigned vehicle in clean, roadworthy condition by performing routine inspections, checking oil and fluid levels, tire pressure, and cleanliness.
- • Schedule and monitor regular vehicle servicing, inspections, and repairs to avoid mechanical issues and ensure compliance with road safety standards.
- • Promptly report any vehicle malfunctions, incidents, or accidents to management and assist with completing related reports.
- • Support the logistics team with event setup and breakdown by transporting equipment and supplies as required.
- • Demonstrate professionalism and excellent customer service when interacting with staff, patients, and external partners.
- • Be available to work on weekends, public holidays, and outside standard working hours when required for events or medical outreach activities.
- • Perform any other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- • Minimum of three (3) years' experience in a similar driver or transportation support role.
- • At least three (3) CXC subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.
- • Possession of a valid Open General Driver's Licence.
- • Clean driving and medical records.
- • Sound knowledge of Jamaican roadways, traffic laws, and defensive driving techniques.
- • Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and discretion.
- • Strong organizational and communication skills.
- • High standard of personal grooming and professional conduct.
- • Must possess a valid police record.
