Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing microbial analyses on raw materials, process water, intermediates and finished goods. They will also ensure that the quality of ingredients for the production of products conform with established company specifications resulting in only products of the highest quality getting to the customer.

Required Skills

  • • Conducts routine microbiological testing and analysis on raw materials used in the manufacturing process as well as on finished products using validated methods (USP, BP, FDA, BAM)
  • • Receives and prepares samples and equipment for testing, including but not limited to finished product and bioburden
  • • Performs bacteriostasis/fungi stasis testing to validate test methods
  • • Performs subculture and characterize microbial isolates using Gram stain and differential test such as the catalase and oxidase reaction, prepare shipments of subcultures for identification
  • • Demonstrate proficiency in microbial isolation identification, total count methods, selective culturing technique, plating technique, MPN method, media preparation, cleaning validation, sampling analyses, and stock culture maintenance
  • • Observes and maintains strict adherence to established health and safety policies and practice
  • • Demonstrates high proficiency in research and analysis
  • • Demonstrates proficiency in the use of computer software applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • • Possesses excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications

  • • Bachelor’s Degree in Microbiology
  • • Three (3) years experience in a similar position or environment
  • • Three (3) years experience as a Microbiologist
  • • Valid Food Handler’s Permit
  • • Sound knowledge of general and laboratory safety requirements
  • • Training and experience in pharmaceutical testing
  • • Training and experience in Quality Control Systems and procedures
  • • Exhibits patience and possess high levels of attention to detail
  • • Knowledge of Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and ISO standards

  • Special Conditions:

    • • Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Work involves standing, walking, and lifting raw materials.
    • • The incumbent will also be involved in carrying, pushing and pulling.
