Database Administrator
Summary
The GraceKennedy Financial Group seeks to identify an individual looking for an excellent opportunity to progress his/her career; and who possesses the vision and energy to help drive dynamic changes across the group.
Responsibilities
- • Creates, supports, maintains and troubleshoots problems for all databases required for production, disaster recovery, development, testing and usage across multiple enterprise solution across all GKFG companies, to ensure secure services with minimum downtime.
- • Performs the capacity planning required to create databases for new systems deployment and for the ongoing maintain of the databases as they grow and respond to the ongoing needs and demand of business operations.
- • Responsible for tuning and ensuring availability and performance of the complex database architectures that support multiple specialized business systems (Enterprise banking systems, online banking, ATM & Card Management Systems & Enterprise Financial Accounting Systems).
- • Works with the Infrastructure team to ensure that the required associated hardware, physical data storage and operating system resources are allocated to the databases and to ensure high availability and optimum performance.
- • Responsible for providing trend analysis reports to the service management team to enable them to make informed decisions regarding resource management.
- • Responsible for database problem troubleshooting and resolution as well as escalation to vendors, IT Management and other support units as appropriate.
- • Performs database re-organisations as required to assist performance and ensure maximum uptime of the database.
- • Responsible for improvement, migrations and maintenance of the database to include rollout and upgrades.
- • Evaluates releases of databases and its tools, and third party products to ensure that the site is running the products that are most appropriate.
- • Create manuals and documentation for all database systems. This includes maintaining schema diagrams and data dictionaries to ensure they remain up to date, accurate and consistent across different applications and data stores.
- • Develops SQL scripts where necessary to support overall application and BI data needs of the organization.
- • Ensure that the Financial Division maintains a strong security posture that safeguards against varying cyber threats and attacks including but not limited to, Trojans, malware and ransomware.
- • Participate in the design, testing, and implementation for all database Disaster Recovery Plans.
Qualifications
- • University degree in Computer Science or related area.
- • Minimum Four (4) years’ experience as an Oracle & MS-SQL Database Administrator.
- • Proven work experience with Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server, certification is desirable.
- • Experience of managing multiple Oracle & MS-SQL database for medium to large systems implemented with high availability database management solutions.
- • Operating system knowledge at system administrator level (Unix, Windows 2012 Server and later), Network (TCP/IP, Routing), security, and exposure to programming (especially Operating System shell scripts).
- • Must be comfortable working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- • Ability to set and manage priorities judiciously.
- • Excellent written, oral skills and interpersonal skills
- • Superior analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities.
- • Must be able to work in an environment that is constantly changing with demonstrated ability to manage competing tasks and demands.
