Summary

Calculate and pay benefits to recipients of pension plans.

Responsibilities

  • • Consult Pension Plan rules to ascertain benefits due to members on termination of employment.
  • • Ensure contribution data required to process benefits are properly checked and added to member accounts for processing.
  • • Calculate benefits due to members and prepare benefits booklet for approval by Pension Administrator.
  • • Prepare requisitions for the payment of benefit.
  • • Ensure proper approvals are received before dispatching payment of benefits.
  • Consult Pension Plan rules to ascertain benefits due to members on retirement from the Pension Plan.:

    • • Ensure all documents required to process benefits are received.
    • • Prepare Payment requisition and Income tax calculation to request payment.
  • • Ensure proper documentation are received from Client in relation to the deceased member and his beneficiary before processing commences.
  • • Ensure payments over the Pension Administrators’ limit reflects appropriate signatures.
  • • Ensure all banking details are entered in database before requesting transfer by way of the Supervisor.
  • • Ensure payment details are properly entered in database (cheque number, cheque date).
  • • Ensure appropriate work-flow database is updated each day to reflect work done.
  • • Organize disbursement activities with other Benefit Processors
  • • Perform other related duties assigned from time to time.

Required Skills

  • • Time management skills.
  • • Sound knowledge of computer software packages and pension specific software.

Qualifications

  • • Minimum of an associate degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Mathematics from a recognized tertiary institution.
  • • LOMA level I or certification in other industry specified courses.
  • • At least three (3) years’ working experience in a similar capacity.
