Dispatcher
Summary
Effectively monitor, control and utilize all container handling equipment (CHE) assigned to execute planned vessel/yard operational activities with the aid of terminal operating systems (TOS) applications, to achieve key performance indicators (KPIs).
Responsibilities
- • Ensure the optimum utilization of all CHE employed during the designated shift period by effectively monitoring CHE work queues and allocating CHE where required to achieve maximum productivity
- • Monitor and coordinate using (TOS) applications all container handling activities within vessel and container yard operations according to operational priorities and KPIs set by Shift Managers
- • Monitor the dispatch queues to identify potential clashes, delays in the yard and crane buffer ahead of time
- • Check all work queues thoroughly for anomalies such as custom block units, ‘twining of bays’ when loading 20ft containers and operational reefer stowage prior to releasing the same to CHE operators
- • Communicate all security related issues arising during vessel / yard operations to KFTL Security department to include container seal discrepancies, request for custom block containers and containers under security surveillance watch
- • Monitor continuous operations ensuring staff compliance to the use of the “hot seat” changeover procedure at shift and rest/break changeovers and report instances of hot-seat changeover breaches and resource idle time
- • Report to Supervisor any problem areas of operations and implement the agreed changes to resolve the problems
- • Contribute to “on the job” training of KFTL staff as required by management
Required Skills
- • Knowledge of the Shipping Industry, Terminal operations and customer service principles and practices
- • High energy, excellent judgment, integrity and ethics
- • Communication, leadership, motivation and teamwork skills
- • Organizing, time management, and problem-solving skills
Qualifications
- • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Logistics, or International Commerce
- • Three (3) years’ working experience in the Shipping Industries
- • Training in operations planning and management
