Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Supervisor, the Forklift Operator is responsible for: The retrieval and removal of detained items from the Queen’s Warehouse. 💰Salary: $1,439,455 JMD per annum.

Responsibilities

  • Technical/Professional:

    • • Execute assigned duties immediately in an organised and structured manner.
    • • Ensures that the sales room is prepared with the goods correctly sorted at least three (3) days before the Auction date.
    • • Maintains alertness and advises the Manager when arrangements are to be made for the reordering and refilling the Gas Tank.
    • • Maintains the motor vehicle logbook and assignment book.
    • • Updates the Gas book at each out-takes.
    • • Reports any accident and damage to the forklift to the Manager within one hour of its occurrence.
    • • Presents written accident reports in keeping with the standard operational format twenty-four (24) hours after the accident.
  • Customer Service:

    • • Maintains customer service principles, standards, and measurements.
    • • Identifies and incorporates the interests and needs of customers in business process design.
  • Other:

    • • Performs all other duties and functions as may be required from time to time.
    • • May be required to provide witness statements, attend court proceedings, and give evidence.
    • • Compiles with Health & Safety Policies & Procedures.

    • • Knowledge about related equipment and its maintenance.
    • • Knowledge of all safety measures to be taken during the forklift operation.
    • • Knowledge of warehouse inventory.
    • • Working knowledge and understanding of Customs Operations.
    • • Knowledge and understanding of applied risk assessment.
    • • Knowledge in the detection and handling of hazardous substances and materials.
    • • Licensed competence in the operation of motor vehicles and forklifts.

Qualifications

  • • Attained Grade nine (9) educational background.
  • • One (1) year of working experience in a similar capacity.
  • • Approved license/certification to drive and operate a forklift.

Additional Information and Instructions

  • Special Conditions Associated with the Job:

    • • Work will be conducted in various offices with standard office equipment and specialised software.
    • • Involves working in a fast-paced environment with ongoing interactions with critical stakeholders.
    • • May be exposed to high levels of hazardous material, dust and heat.
    • • May be required to work long hours (>50 hours weekly) over protracted periods. On call 24 hours.
    • • Required to be always alert.
