Senior Actuarial Analyst
Summary
Perform calculations and validations, prepare reports, and maintain computerized and manual files and records pertinent to the actuarial requirements of the Company as guided by the Actuary. ** May require frequent work outside of normal business hours and occasionally on weekends. **
Responsibilities
- • Provide assistance to the Direct Supervisor in the supervisor’s areas of responsibility, including but not limited to preparation of ALM & ERM reports.
- • Assist with monthly valuations of policy liabilities by retrieving/ obtaining data from the policy master file and the Employee Benefits Division, investigating and correcting any inaccuracies in the data and preparing the data for use in valuation software.
- • Prepare Experience Studies for both life and annuity block of business.
- • Prepare the determination of the Capital Requirements of the company – MCCSR/LICAT.
- • Compile the Asset allocation by line of business to determine the surplus assets on a monthly/quarterly basis.
- • Determine Individual Life policy values and reserves as requested by various internal departments, by reviewing policy details on the Individual Life Administration System, calculating the policy values or reserves, and submitting the results to the supervisor for review.
- • Liaise where necessary with Information Systems regarding software issues and communicate results to the originating department.
- • Provide technical guidance to analysts in the development and maintenance of valuation models.
- • Perform other job-related duties assigned from time to time.
Required Skills
- • Knowledge of IFRS 17 Standard and GGY AXIS Valuation Software would be a plus.
- • Strong mathematical, computing/coding, research, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- • Detail Oriented.
- • Good interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills.
- • Strong organizational and time management skills.
- • Working knowledge of computer software packages particularly spreadsheet software and word processing software.
Qualifications
- • Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science, or Mathematics from a recognized tertiary institution.
- • Associate/near Associate Actuary designation from a recognized Actuarial body.
- • Minimum 4 years of work experience preferred in Insurance Industry.
