Summary

Under the supervision of the Corporate Communications and Community Awareness Coordinator the Graphic Designer will assist with shaping our visual identity and enhancing our brand presence across various platforms. The ideal candidate should possess a strong creative vision and the ability to translate concepts into Visually compelling designs that resonate with our target audience. The Graphic Designer will collaborate with a team of passionate professionals dedicated to creating impactful communication strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Design Creation:

    • Visual Storytelling - Develop innovative and engaging graphic designs for a variety of projects, including digital content (websites, newsletters, and emails), print materials (brochures, flyers, and posters), social media graphics, presentations, and promotional materials.
    • Brand Development - Contribute to the evolution of our brand identity by creating new visual elements that align with our mission and values.
    • Brand Consistency & Guideline Implementation - Ensure all design work adheres to established brand guidelines and maintains consistency in visual identity across all platforms and communications. Regularly review and update brand materials as necessary.
  • Collaboration:

    • Team Engagement - Work closely with the communications team, including content creators, marketers, and other designers, to conceptualize and produce materials that support organizational goals. Participate in regular brainstorming sessions to generate ideas for campaigns and projects.
    • Interdepartmental Coordination - Collaborate with other departments to understand their design needs and provide tailored solutions that align with overall organizational objectives.
  • Feedback and Revisions:

    • Iterative Design Process - Actively participate in brainstorming sessions and incorporate feedback from team members and stakeholders to refine designs. Be open to constructive criticism and willing to revise designs based on feedback.
    • Client Interaction - Occasionally work directly with external clients or stakeholders to gather requirements and present design concepts.
  • Project Management:

    • Timeline Management - Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met and work is delivered on time and within budget. Utilize project management tools to track progress and communicate updates to the team.
    • Resource Allocation - Assess project requirements and allocate resources effectively to meet project demands.
    • Trend Awareness & Research and Development - Stay updated with industry trends, design tools, and techniques to bring fresh ideas and innovative approaches to the team. Attend workshops, webinars, and conferences to enhance skills and knowledge.
    • Competitive Analysis - Monitor competitor design strategies and industry standards to ensure our visuals remain competitive and relevant.
  • File Management:

    • Asset Organization - Organize and maintain design files, ensuring all assets are properly labeled and archived for easy access. Implement a digital asset management system to streamline file retrieval and sharing.
    • Any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or a related field.
  • Minimum of Two (2) years of professional graphic design experience, preferably in a communications or marketing environment. Experience in the tourism or government sector government is an asset.
  • Understanding of digital marketing channels, trends, user behaviour, research etc.
  • Proficiency in office software tools:

    • Adobe Creative Suite, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint in design and
  • OR
  • Any equivalent Combination of Qualifications and Experience
