Summary

Reporting to the Manager - Public Relations & Marketing, the PR Executive will be responsible for developing and executing communication programs for various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) of the Government of Jamaica. You'll also create, organize, implement, and monitor Public Relations and Communications initiatives for the JIS itself, with a key focus on promoting the Agency's policies, programs, services, and activities to enhance its image. 💰Salary: $5,198,035.00 - $6,990,779.44 JMD per annum

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the Agency's response to the public education needs of Government MDAs to ensure optimal use of JIS production facilities and media outlets.
  • Establish and maintain proactive working relationships with assigned Government MDAs.
  • Identify newsworthy projects, issues, and events in assigned MDAs and develop and execute public awareness activities aligned with the Government's strategic priorities and Vision 2030 National Development Plan.
  • Develop innovative PR and Communication techniques and strategies to enhance the JIS brand and effectively advertise the Agency's products and services.
  • Write and develop public relations programs and projects.
  • Provide support to JIS production departments and communication personnel in Government by writing news releases, features, statements, reports, speeches, media advisories, and radio scripts for news features.
  • Lead business development activities and motivate team members to achieve department targets.
  • Promote the services of the JIS to ensure the optimal use of the Agency's facilities and services.
  • Produce news releases, features, media advisories, scripts, and other material.
  • Help organize special media events, seminars, and conferences on behalf of clients.

  • Knowledge and understanding of the workings of Government, policy development, and program implementation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Specialized training in Public Relations and Communication.
  • Three (3) years' experience in a comparable working environment.
