Summary

Under the supervision of the Director, Physical Planning and Sustainable Development, the Physical Planning Coordinator (GMG/AM 4), the incumbent is responsible for receiving, processing, reviewing, and assessing all development applications. 💰Salary: $2,803,771 - $3,770,761 JMD per annum

Responsibilities

  • Receives and reviews subdivision and building plans to ensure that:

    • Covenants are not breached.
    • Ownership of premises is established.
    • Signature of owner/agent is affixed.
    • Plans are drawn according to the respective requirements.
  • Establishes files for each plan and records relevant information.
  • Maintains all files and registers on development applications.
  • Receives, processes, reviews, and assesses all development applications.
  • Answers queries from applicants in relation to their applications.
  • Checks building plans to determine if copies should be referred to other Government Agencies.
  • Forwards to applicants conditions imposed on subdivision applications for acceptance.
  • Coordinates recommendations from the relevant agencies and prepares submissions for consideration by the Local Planning Authority.
  • Forwards approved subdivision plans to the Ministry responsible for the environment.
  • Examines resolutions and embodies the terms and conditions of approval of subdivision plans, endorses same on plans, affixes the Corporation's seal, and forwards documents to applicants or their agents.
  • Prepares and issues building permits.
  • Compiles statistical information on statutory/non-governmental organizations.
  • Processes applications for revalidation of building permits.
  • Keeps records of lots in subdivisions designated for non-residential purposes.
  • Prepares quarterly reports on subdivision and building plans received and processed for submission to the Ministry of Local Government and Community Development.
  • Prepares periodically, information on the number of development plans received and approved for presentation to the Ministry of Local Government and Community Development.
  • Maintains an up-to-date notice board with all the queries, all the requisite brochures, etc., and changes the display every two weeks.
  • Performs any other duties within your scope as may be assigned by the Director of Planning.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Planning Technology or Related Qualifications from an accredited University or Institution.
  • Three (3) years' experience in an organization with Physical Planning functions.
  • Equivalent combination of experience and education.
