Summary

JP Tropical Foods Limited, a subsidiary of Pan Jamaica Group, is a diverse, fast-growing Company and the nation's leading supplier of high-quality fresh produce with export markets in the U.S.A. and Caribbean, is seeking a Quality Control & Food Safety Coordinator to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate must be results-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced, multi-crop environment to be a part of our Operations team tasked with ensuring the sustainability of the business Quality Management System.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the quality management and food safety systems.
  • Manage corrective actions and non-conformances (root cause analysis, follow up, etc.).
  • Lead the certification processes (such as Global Gap, HACCP) for the Farming and Processing facilities to ensure compliance with all local and international regulatory bodies.
  • Direct liaising with certification bodies regarding any and all audits.
  • Ensure internal and external audits are completed based on audit schedules.
  • Identify and mitigate risks to minimize exposure with projects and operations.
  • Monitor and analyze product quality and provide statistical reports.
  • Coordinate processes related to the development or improvement of products and/or product SKUs and liaise with other departments to complete different process improvement strategies.
  • Other responsibilities of this role include (but are not limited to):

    • Ensure there is complete documentation of the Quality Management System (updated manuals, records, etc.).
    • Develop and execute improvement plans, ensuring areas for improvement are highlighted in a timely manner.
    • Periodically/quarterly review audit results and customer feedback to identify concerns and opportunities for improvement.
    • Promote and encourage food safety and quality assurance throughout the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (Agronomy, Food Science, Engineering) or related discipline with at least three (3) years of experience in a similar role (Cultivation, Processing & Quality Control environment).
  • Working knowledge of Food Safety & Quality software.
  • Knowledgeable of industry standards and techniques.
  • Excellent leadership and project/time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Good communication (oral/written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Good analytical/problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Willingness to "roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty."
