To support the achievement of the Jamaica Customs Agency’s mandate to optimise trade facilitation, border protection and revenue collection by implementing and entrenching compliance with all legislation and regulations governing the functional areas of responsibility and ensuring that the Agency’s human, physical and financial resources are managed by the provisions of the applicable laws and regulations [such as FAA Act, Executive Agencies Act, the Financial Instructions to Executive Agencies (FIEA) and delegated human resource management functions]. To lead, coordinate and control the management of post-clearance audit, incentives, valuation research and private bonded warehouses’ operational activities to facilitate the effective and efficient movement of accurately classified, valued and customed goods that supports legitimate trade while preventing the illegal movement of goods across Jamaica’s borders. 💰Salary: $6,333,301 JMD per annum.

Senior Customs Officer (Level 5) - Kingston

Under the direct supervision of the Supervisor, the Senior Customs Officer is responsible: To perform functions relating to the entry and clearance of air-crafts, inspection of persons, carriers and baggage. To conduct all Customs activities in accordance with Customs policies and regulations. For forming the inspection and control functions pertaining to the loading entry clearance and export of cargo Expediting the processing of incoming passengers while at the same time enforcing the Customs Acts and Regulations and also other related Acts and Legislations. Directing and controlling the service environment in “Baggage Hall”. Performing intelligence gathering, and passenger clearance. To supervise entry documentation processing for commercial cargo shipments arriving by all modes of transportation in accordance with Customs Acts, its regulations and other relevant legislation; To provide adequate systems and measures to consolidate and appropriately apply information on duty waivers and exemption authorizations related to specified goods importation in compliance with the Customs Act, its regulations and related legislation; To assist with providing technical guidance to staff. To conduct customs administrative and border security activities for importation and/or exportation of goods that support the enforcement of the Customs Act and Regulations, and, other relevant legislation; To assist with optimizing revenue by ensuring adequate systems and measures are in place that facilitate the declaration and/or application and payment of correct duties and taxes on goods and other items imported and exported To assist with protecting Jamaica’s borders and her society by providing direction and collaboration on activities aimed at detecting and seizing illegally imported goods and other items. 💰Salary: $5,198,035 JMD per annum.

Customs Officer (Level 4) - Kingston Operations

Under the direct supervision of the Supervisor, the Customs Officer is responsible for executing all customs activities in compliance with relevant policies, the Customs Act, and associated regulations. Key responsibilities include: Conducting administrative and border security functions related to the import and export of goods via parcel post. Facilitating trade and optimizing revenue through effective oversight of the public bonded warehouse system using a risk-based control approach. Detecting and seizing illegally imported goods to safeguard Jamaican society. Preventing customs offences through enforcement and deterrent measures that ensure accurate declaration and collection of duties and taxes. Utilizing available systems and procedures to ensure the correct application and payment of duties and taxes on imported and exported items. 💰Salary: $4,266,270 JMD per annum.

Driver (Level 3) - Kingston

Under the direct supervision of the Supervisor, Transport, the Driver 1 is responsible: To provide transportation services to the Agency’s staff and associates as required from time to time. To maintain and ensure proper use of vehicles assigned for use in customs related activities. To transport staff, goods, furniture, and equipment to the various locations and Customs offices Island wide. To ensure timely and adequate maintenance of the vehicle and maintaining the motor vehicle logs. 💰Salary: $1,439,455 JMD per annum.
