Equipment Operator
Summary
Responsibility to operate safely and efficiently the Terminal’s operating equipment to include Quay Gantry Cranes, Straddle Carriers, Stackers, and Tractor Trailer. Safely and efficiently discharge and load container vessels, discharge/load containers/break bulk cargo, execute work queue instructions, transport containers on the Terminal strictly adhering to the Terminal’s speed limit, traffic flow regulations and other safety and operations standards, stack/unstack containers. Achieve set KPIs per work shift. Assist with the training of KFTL employees as required by management.
Required Skills
- • Knowledge of the Shipping Industry, Terminal Operations and Terminal Safety Requirements
- • Familiarity with Microsoft Word & Excel
- • Ability to work at heights for sustained periods (not afraid of heights)
- • Good eyesight, hand eye co-ordination and sense of depth perception
- • Energetic, sound physical and mental ability
- • Having high integrity and ethics, excellent judgement
- • Ability to work under pressure, problem solving and time management skills
- • Good organizing, teamwork, customer/interpersonal relations skills
Qualifications
- • Minimum secondary level certification with CSEC/GCE passes in English, Mathematics & Information Technology
- • Automotive or Mechanical Maintenance Experience
- • Training/certification in equipment operation
- • At least 3 years’ holder of a General Driver’s Licence
- • At least 2 years’ experience as a heavy-duty equipment operator
- • Clean driving record
