
Parish Dental Auxillary Coordinator (Htac/Dn 4) - Manchester Health Department
Summary
To coordinate and supervise the dental auxiliary programme within a parish. This position plans and organizes oral health education/promotion activities within the parish. The PDAC carries out prescribed preventive, curative, diagnostic and rehabilitative dental work on children. 💰Basic Salary: $4,359,501 – $5,182,077 JMD per annum any allowance (s) attached to the post
Responsibilities
- • Plans and organizes oral health education / promotion programmes for schools and communities.
- • Instructs children and adults in the principle of preventive dentistry and the measures necessary to maintain optimal oral health.
- • Carries out routine and diagnostic oral examination on children.
Performs necessary preventive and rehabilitative oral health procedures on children, to include:
- • scaling, prophylaxis, the application of fissure sealant restoration, extraction of deciduous teeth, pulpotomy, stainless steel crowns.
- • Keeps accurate and up to date records of all treatment given to, and contact made with clients
- • Refers more complex dental problems to the dental surgeon.
- • Prepares quarterly and half yearly status reports for health district.
- • Assists with the planning and implementation of oral health programmes within a parish or zone.
- • Assists with the supervision of dental staff, and the coordination of the dental programme within the health districts.
- • Gives advice, counsel and instructions to subordinates; hears and resolve complaints, and
- • Attends and participates in training sessions planned for dental staff.
- • Liaise with other health care providers and non-government organizations.
- • Performs other duties within competence, which may be assigned
Required Skills
- • Knowledge of the Dental Act and Regulations
- • Knowledge of the National Oral Health Policy
- • Indepth knowledge of the Dental Health Services Policies and Procedures Manual
- • Knowledge of equipment, instruments,materials,methods and procedures used in dentistry
- • Knowledge of Phamaceuticals used in dentistry
- • Knowledge of the rules and regulations applicable to government employees
Qualifications
- • A Graduate from an approved institution as a Dental Nurse;
- • Approximately eight (8) years relevant experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience;
- • Training in Management at the Certificate or Diploma Level;
- • Registered with the Dental Council
