Applications Support Specialist
Summary
The Application Support Specialist is responsible for providing expert support for The CB Group production applications and planned releases including understanding user requirements, training, deployment, maintenance, trouble shooting, issue resolution, bug specification, minor testing and reporting
Responsibilities
The role will focus on:
- • Analysing existing systems and making recommendations for improvement
- • Supporting the roll-out of the finished applications or modifications, or of other software product/system as assigned. This includes ensuring a smooth transition of application support from the project team to the support unit
- • Managing ticketed query system and ensuring comprehensive database of queries and resolutions is updated
- • Developing stored procedures and sub routines to support MIS reports
- • Managing code migration across environments to ensure continued and synchronized functionality.
- • In some instances, developing test plan, performing code review and “system test” bug fixes / software improvements.
- • Keeping record of configuration changes and scheduling application updates.
- • Documenting processes and monitoring application performance metrics.
- • Providing training to the users regarding any upgraded system.
- • Providing technical support to teams within the organization and to external clients when required.
- • Preparing maintenance plans and upgrading schedules for the organization’s systems.
- • Developing reports for teams across the business.
- • Providing on-call support as needed.
Qualifications
- • BSc. OR Tertiary Level Certifications in Computer Science / MIS / Data Science or any related field
- • Minimum of five (5) years working experience in Information Technology particularly in Software Development, Testing and User Support.
- • Knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring standards
- • Customer focused with a passion for producing consistently excellent and timely customer service.
- • Understanding of relational and dimensional data modeling
- • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- • Impeccable attention to detail
- • Familiarity with SQL Server, Language and Data Tools (SSIS, SSRS etc.) is an asset
