Remote Senior Software / Data Engineer

Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior/Principal Software Engineer to join our client's team, where you'll play a pivotal role in designing and implementing real-time distributed data processing systems that analyze public data and detect emerging threats. As a key contributor, you will focus on research and development in areas such as information extraction, multilingual NLP, automated summarization, graph network analysis, computer vision, and Large Language Models (LLMs). Salary: $4,500 - $5,700 USD/month (depending on experience)

Responsibilities

• • Design and implement distributed data processing systems for real-time analysis of public data and threat detection.
• • Lead research and development in machine learning, NLP, computer vision, and data analytics.
• • Oversee the gathering and annotating of custom datasets for tasks like classification, unsupervised pre-training, and tagging.
• • Lead the optimization of ETL processes for various data formats from social media, news, and web sources.
• • Develop and manage the database architecture for real-time streaming analytics, focusing on performance and scalability.
• • Drive automation, continuous integration, deployment, and performance optimization efforts while ensuring strict security compliance.
• • Design, implement, and optimize robust REST APIs and ensure data correctness through test suites and instrumentation.
• • Lead development initiatives, manage feature rollouts, and make strategic decisions on project trade-offs (e.g., cost vs. performance).
• • Apply machine learning performance evaluation techniques to identify and address system limitations.

Required Skills

• • Experience with AWS and cloud services.
• • Familiarity with MLOps frameworks like Kubeflow, MLFlow.
• • Experience with generative models and AI/ML deployments.
• • Published research or contributions to open-source machine learning projects.
• • Track record of success in online competitions like Kaggle.

Qualifications

• • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• • 4+ years of experience in data engineering and building data platforms.
• • 2+ years of experience in Machine Learning or a closely related field.
• • Proven track record of deploying cloud-based products and optimizing processing pipelines for streaming analytics.
• • Proficiency with SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB, ElasticSearch, Redis, Druid).
• • Expertise in Kafka, Airflow, and big data processing systems (e.g., Apache Spark, Flink, Beam).
• • Strong Python coding skills and experience with build automation, CI/CD tools.
• • Strong project management skills with the ability to lead teams and deliver complex projects.
