Gateway Agent
Summary
Under the direction of the Station Supervisor /Lead Ops coordinates activities of all Inbound and Outbound material, then, arranges the clearance of goods for DHL customers.
Responsibilities
- • Recovers Inbound Material from relevant airlines containing Express Shipments and material consigned to DHL and scans accordingly as per GSOP Business Rules.
- • Checks import and export documents to review and verify details of shipment
- • Notifies Management/Security of discrepancies with Inbound and Outbound Material.
- • Assists with the Classification of goods into different import fee or tariff groups by utilizing and international tariff coding system or that of local regulations
- • Assists in Calculating duty and relative tax amounts if necessary
- • Ensures all incoming and outgoing shipments received the correct checkpoint scan and in sequence
- • Keeps proper bond log and Tangible Files of Historical Data as it pertains to Clearance Documentation using DHL Systems I.E. ACA
- • Communicates load/volume and discrepancies via Phone, Email, Flight Alerts (CALMS) and Manifest Services
- • Prepares documentation for Customs and serves as a liaison with Customs staff Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned and required.
- • Establishes location of all shipments listed on manifest and sorts Material according to designated areas.
- • Verifies goods classification for determination of import fees or tariff groups
- • Maintains tangible records of overcharges and any damages to shipment received
- • Sorts and Transports shipments to DHL Service Center
- • Resolves any customs delays within BOS Country Target
- • Provides proper calculation of Custom Entries and informs Internal and External Customers as to the amount of duties
- • Assists with Outbound Processing at Service Center and Gateway.
- • Assists with coordination of delivery and pick up of palletized materials as requested by Management
Qualifications
- • A. Sc. in Logistics Management or High School or its equivalent
- • Minimum one year experience in customs-related position or customs brokerage
- • Certification in the handling of Dangerous Goods
- • Working knowledge of Tariff Regulations and Rates
- • Working knowledge of computer capabilities and related information systems
- • Clean police record
- • A valid General Driver’s License
- • Strong Interpersonal Skills
