Summary

This position participates in planning, implementing and managing civil engineering capital works projects undertaken by the Port Authority. The scope of responsibilities includes preliminary and final designs evaluation, technical guidance on civil engineering rehabilitation works condition surveys. 💰$7,616,470.81 - $8,723,351.06 JMD per annum.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and evaluate the works of consultants and contractors to ensure satisfactory discharge of contractual obligation and compliance with job specification infrastructure.
  • Evaluate the contractor’s implementation programme and recommend acceptance if the work sequence and duration are consistent with both the operational and resource constraints.
  • Manage project implementation such that deviation from the established programme is identified and recommend remedial action.
  • Participate in the procurement of contractual services, i.e., preparation of Terms of Reference, and evaluate and identify appropriate specification for project.
  • Evaluate/prepare tender documents to ensure that documents incorporate all the PAJ’s specific requirements and ensure compliance with all statutory requirements and regulations.
  • Participate in evaluating the preliminary and final designs submitted by consultants and make recommendation, if required prior to acceptance.
  • Prepare project status report for each site meeting.
  • Conduct periodic inspection of the Authority’s facilities and identify remedial action if required.
  • Evaluate contractors and consultants’ invoices; recommend payments consistent with and correspond to the value of the service/work.
  • Review and verify escalation claims.
  • Attend and manage site meetings; represent the Authority at meetings held by other stakeholders as directed.
  • Coordinate and evaluate the work of consultants and contractors ensuring satisfactory discharge of contractual obligations and compliance with job specification.
  • Evaluate preliminary and final design submitted by consultants.
  • Provide technical guidance on civil engineering projects as necessary.
  • Any other duties assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Construction Engineering
  • Project Management certification
  • Minimum of 4 to 5 years of related working experience.
