Commercial Manager - Foods

Summary

The Category Manager will report to the Head of Marketing. This position is responsible for improving sales for all brands within the CPJ FOODS portfolio. The incumbent will also be responsible for identifying new opportunities in the marketplace, while ensuring the coordination between the CPJ marketing/sales teams and their respective customers. Responsibilities

• • Must be a subject expert on the product portfolio of the category.
• • Implement marketing plans and strategies guided by the respective Brand Owners/ Vendors, ensuring that ROI is met keeping within A&P budget parameters.
• • Prepare and communicate monthly reports detailing sales and marketing achievements to the Senior Category Manager and Brand Owners where applicable.
• • Liaison with production, purchasing and inventory teams to ensure that sufficient stock levels are maintained for assigned brands/products.
• • Assist in vendor relationships through report consolidation, trade visit itineraries and general communication.
• • Analyse industry and sales data to identify opportunities and gaps for assigned products/brands.
• • Conduct monthly trade visits inclusive of new client presentations and product training exercises.
• • Assist in the process on which new products are brought on stream and launched through market observations of competitor activities, price assessments and communication with Sales Representatives.
• • Supervises the Brand Manager, Brand Associate & other junior members on the team.
• • Implement activities, processes or strategies that will improve the competitive advantage of the company, in consultation with the Senior Category Manager, and other members of the management team.
• • Ensure the maintenance of the good name and reputation of Caribbean Producers Jamaica Ltd. in general through the demonstration and practice of the highest standards of ethical conduct, whilst not representing directly or indirectly any efforts of competing entities.
• • Abide by the disciplinary code of the company.
• • Any other duties as assigned.

  • • CPJ dairy brands
  • • Chilled, frozen grocery items
  • • Non-Foods portfolio
  • • Other areas as per business needs

• • Ability to work flexible hours as the needs of the service dictate, including out of normal hours as required.

• • Should possess good written and verbal communication skills.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite:

  • • Word, Excel, and Power-point
• • Self-motivated with the proven ability to prioritize and work independently with minimal supervision.
• • Ability to meet deadlines and exercise good time management skills.
• • Presentation skills should include modern presentation methods.
• • Trustworthy, dependable, and reputable.
• • Well organised and methodical approach to work and the work environment.

Qualifications

• • Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Marketing, Public Relations or Hospitality and Tourism Management.
• • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar capacity.
• • Previous track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets an asset.
• • Must own a reliable motor vehicle.
