Accounting Officer - General Ledger Accounting
Summary
Provide accounting support to the unit, by ensuring that all financial and accounting related transactions are properly recognized and measured and reported in accordance with company policy and applicable accounting standards. Provide technical support to internal clients and resolve issues in timely manner.
Responsibilities
Ensure the daily review of data upload to the general ledger.:
- • Ensure that all transactions from the relevant platforms are posted to the general ledger.
- • Investigate all errors and implement appropriate resolution.
- • Ensure that the General Ledger period is updated within the stipulated timeframe.
Test to ensure the functionality of all systems in User Acceptance Testing, after changes are made.:
- • Prepare test scripts and cases for all tests completed.
Ensure daily monitoring of all error suspense accounts for subsidiaries within the Group.:
- • Investigate all balances in the error suspense account and follow-up with stakeholders to ensure they are cleared.
Liaise with branches to ensure the timely receipt of reconciliation.:
- • Ensure reconciliations are free from errors.
- • Ensure that all audit schedules are completed monthly.
- • File all the General Ledger control reports and reconciliations received.
- • Create users in the assigned software.
- • Prepare adhoc reconciliations as required.
Investigate all balances that should have been cleared by end of day.:
- • Liaise with Teller Supervisors to ensure clearance.
- • Perform other related duties assigned from time to time.
Required Skills
- • Excellent organizational and time management skills, communication skills, flexibility.
- • Working knowledge of policies and procedures.
- • Knowledge of the company’s operations.
- • Ability to communicate effectively.
- • Familiarity with computerized accounting systems.
- • Sound knowledge of computer software packages including spreadsheet and word processing software.
Qualifications
- • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or equivalent qualification from a recognized tertiary institution
- • Prior experience in maintaining accurate general ledger(s), financial reporting application and monitoring of key internal controls.
