Lead Architect – Data
Summary
Under the supervision of the Department Head – Data Management Services (Enterprise Architecture), the Lead Architect – Data is responsible for expanding the company’s use of data as a strategic enabler of corporate goals and objectives. The incumbent executes designing, developing and implementing functions for enterprise-level applications and systems and data models that are architected at the conceptual, logical, business area and application layers. The Lead Architect – Data also acts as the primary advocate of data modelling methodologies and data processing best practices and is responsible for the technical performance and quality of work produced by team members directly under his/her guidance.
Responsibilities
- • Defines the vision and strategy for data architecture.
- • Sets data architecture standards and methodologies.
- • Organizes and implements data governance policies, procedures and standards that maximize data access and interoperability for the business.
- • Develops guidelines and standards for cataloging and maintaining data repositories.
- • Develops and maintains the Enterprise Data Model ensuring that there is alignment with the enterprise’s strategic goals.
- • Defines and maintains the Data Technology, Integration and Security Architecture.
- • Identifies data requirements by researching and analyzing user needs, preferences, objectives, working methods and studies of how users consume content.
- • Advises on changing database storage and utilization requirements for the enterprise and propose solutions.
- • Reviews database implementation methods for alignment with applicable policies and regulations.
- • Develops data models and architecture documentation for the management and executive teams.
- • Provides guidance to junior members of the team.
- • Serves as the liaison between data consumer representatives and data solution development, integration and governance teams.
- • Must understand how data is, or will be used and its implications (legal and operational) on people, processes, products and technology.
- • Designs and develops complex database management systems and separate public data from private data.
- • Develops and maintains data models.
Qualifications
- • Bachelor’s Degree/Master’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
- • Proven experience in business and product development in the technology industry.
- • At least 6 years relevant industry experience.
- • Experience in client management.
- • Strong appreciation for business processes and the supporting role of data.
- • Understanding the techniques to transition from business processes to IT solutions.
- • Good understanding of systems development lifecycle, database design and management and techniques for testing software projects.
- • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- • Good data migration and integration skills as well as data warehousing skills.
- • Excellent database designing skills
- • Innovative with good research skills
- • Strong communication skills
- • Excellent negotiation and project management skills
