Summary

The National Works Agency, an Executive Agency of the Government of Jamaica, is seeking suitably qualified individuals for the under-mentioned position. Intelligent Transportation System Application Developer (Contract) 💰Salary: $4,319,592 JMD per annum

Responsibilities

The incumbent is expected to discharge their responsibilities through the attainment of key outputs which include but are not limited to the following:

  • Develop software solutions according to each project undertaken and to make the unit more efficient.
  • Perform peer review of code and ensure applications are developed according to set standards.
  • Programme and maintain communication boards for the Traffic Signal Network.
  • Programme and maintain Traffic CCTV systems.
  • Travel to remote sites to troubleshoot ITS equipment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent from a recognized tertiary institution.
  • Six (6) years' application development experience, inclusive of three (3) years in a similar position.
  • Experience in conceptualization, design, specification, development, and implementation of Intelligent Transportation System solutions to meet business needs.
  • Experience in object-oriented analysis and design techniques.
  • Knowledge and experience in Front End Frameworks such as Angular and Back-end Frameworks such as ASP.NET and C++ as well as other general web-based development tools.
  • Familiar with I.T.S. solutions and how to integrate/develop software for native Traffic Signal Devices.
  • Working Knowledge of Version Control Systems; preferably Git.
  • Professional knowledge in Traffic Management Systems such as Central Intersection Management and Traffic Signal Controller Programming.
  • Knowledge of development with License Plate Recognition Cameras in relation to Origin Destination, Travel Time, and Average Speed.
  • Knowledge of Programming for Variable Message Signs and development of software.
  • Experience writing automated unit tests using a Unit Testing Framework.
