Chief Architect (contract)

Summary

The incumbent is required to oversee and manage activities of the Architecture Department, directing and coordinating the activities of the Department, team members, consultants and contractors. All of whom are involved in various aspects of planning, designing, procurement and management of projects. He/She is regarded as the chief technical expert in the discipline of Architecture and Urban Design and will be expected to provide technical inputs, advice and guidance to the Department, Division and Corporation on the discipline as required.

• • Ability to use relevant software for the profession e.g. AutoCAD Suite, Revit, SketchUp etc. as well as Project Management software e.g. Microsoft Projects
• • Negotiation and Problem-solving skills
• • Ability to drive results and meet tight timelines and cost objectives

Qualifications

• • Post Graduate Degree in Architecture with at least eight (8) years post qualification architecture experience, minimum four (4) years as a Lead Designer
OR
• • Bachelor’s degree in architecture with at least ten (10) years post qualification experience, minimum seven (7) years as a Lead Designer/ Manager on projects.
PLUS
• • Minimum of eight (8) years in the planning, design and execution of construction projects.
• • Demonstratable experience in managing projects at a senior level, to include managing projects funded by the GOJ and international agencies/organizations.
• • Demonstrate high levels of functionality and competence in communicating and engaging stakeholders, including internal facilitation across organizational business units.
• • Project Management certification or equivalent would be an asset
• • Sound knowledge of regulatory framework, as well as standards, codes, and best practices for the built environment
• • Expert knowledge of project life-cycle methodology
• • Sound knowledge of financial management and Procurement principles and techniques as well as administration of construction contracts including FIDIC
• • Professional Registration with the Architects Registration Board of Jamaica
