Legal Officer (JLG/LO 2)
Summary
Under the general guidance of the Public Defender/Deputy Public Defender, the Legal Officer is charged with a role that involves the examination and analysis of legal framework for proposing law reforms, delivering legal advice and assistance across the organization, as well as ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards. A significant part of this position includes investigating complaints that include complex legal subjects and providing essential support in uncovering and addressing legal issues within the Office of the Public Defender. Employment is on a contractual basis, and a gratuity is payable upon successful completion of the contractual agreement. Salary range: $4,266,270.00 - $5,737,658.00 JMD per annum.
Qualifications
- • Bachelor of Laws Degree (LLB) from an accredited University.
- • Legal Education Certificate awarded by the Council of Legal Education.
- • A minimum of three (3) years' experience in the practice of law in any commonwealth jurisdiction.
